Search and rescue teams think they are getting closer to finding the last remaining missing worker inside of the collapsed Hard Rock Hotel construction site on Canal Street.
"We currently have crews in the building as we speak," New Orleans Fire Chief Tim McConnell said this morning. "They are in there with some search dogs, both some live dogs and cadavers dogs. They are going through areas of the building were we believe we may have the third person we've been looking for."
He says they still hope to find the worker alive. Two others were found dead.
"This continues to be a rescue mission," Mayor LaToya Cantrell stressed.
She says after they complete the search, they will turn to determining why the building partially collapsed Saturday.
"Once we have removed the individuals from the site, it will then move very swiftly into an investigative... mode."
McConnell says in addition to the Search and Rescue teams, there are structural experts on site.
"We also have two different crews of engineers in there who are working to help us stabilize the building, figure out how exactly we are going to go about doing that."
Authorities ask everyone to stay clear of the building they describe as unstable and dangerous.
Cantrell says only one person remains hospitalized, and he is in stable condition after surgery.
