The three candidates for Governor of Louisiana took the stage at UL-Lafayette last night and didn't hold back as they repeatedly went after each other's allegations and attack ads.
Congressman Ralph Abraham lead a two-front battle with Eddie Rispone and Governor John Bel Edwards over commercials questioning his voting record and ethics.
With Rispone on the attack over disloyality to President Trump, Abraham dressed down the candidate responding: "I know that your consultants out of state have told you that you have to attack me and my family. But you know, you know those ads you're running against me and my family are lies."
Meanwhile Rispone teed off on the Governor about an Edwards ad likening an Rispone administration to former Republican governor Bobby Jindal, calling it Jindal 2.0: "Boddy Jindal's not running for governor, I'm running for governor. And we're going to keep going back to that? I hear it over and over again."
And Rispone took on Edwards direct allegation he supported Jindal's run for President: "I did not support Bobby Jindal for President, that's a misstatement."
Governor Edwards deflected allegations by Ralph Abraham about his job performance by going on the offensive: "I do my job, Congressman, you're the one that doesn't do yours," Edwards said bringing Abraham's voting record to light. "I go to work every single days, every single day," the rebuff by Edwards brought a round of applause.
There will be one more televised debate ahead of the October 12 election date.
