The number of coronavirus cases reported today in Louisiana took it's biggest jump since Arpil15 -- 710 new cases reported today, bringing the total to 28,711. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards said that more than half of that 710 came from two labs that are new to reporting.

"381 of these new cases come from two commercial labs who were reporting for the very first time today," Edwards explains, "and many of those test results are actually days and weeks old, we found out."

Some of the tests were taken in March, according to state officials.

Governor Edwards says this is an issue they will have to work on when new labs come on line for testing.

"We're doing everything we can to be proactive and reach out to them," said the governor, "to remind them of what their obligations are to report to the Department of Health, and to CDC, by the way, everyday, their tests results, both positives and negatives."
