The town of Destrehan has been ranked as the richest town in Louisiana, according to 24/7 Wall Street analysis.
The analysis considered towns with populations of 1,000 to 25,000 residents.
And Destrehan, is right in the middle with a population of just under 11,000 dollars.
Councilwoman At Large in St. Charles Parish Wendy Benedetto says St. Charles Parish Industry is the reason for the ranking.
"We have Valero, Shell, Diamond, Monsanto just on the other side of the river, but we have a lot of industry here," Benedetto said. Median household income in Destrehan, 88,783 dollars.
"Currently right now, our inventory is really low, which is making our houses even more valuable and they are coming on the market and getting quickly," Benedetto.
