Hurricane Dorian is forecast to slam into Florida Monday with sustained winds up to 140 miles per hour.
"Dorian is expected to become a major hurricane later today, and it will remain an extremely dangerous major hurricane while it moves near the northwestern Bahamas and approaches the Florida peninsula into early next week," according to the National Hurricane Center.
Before hitting Florida, Dorian is forecast to blast through the Bahamas.
"On this track, the core of Dorian should move over the Atlantic well north of the southeastern and central Bahamas today and tomorrow, be near or over the northwestern Bahamas on Sunday, and be near the Florida peninsula late Monday."
Is there any threat to Louisiana?
WWL TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum says, "Right now, none of the outcomes of the models indicate an impact to New Orleans or the north-central Gulf coast."
Landfall is expected near West Palm Beach Monday with Dorian slowly moving toward Orlando in Wednesday. The cone of error, however, includes all of the Florida Peninsula and part of Georgia.
