Few first responders are at risk of encountering COVID-19 cornavirus the way emergency medical servicee workers are. And in New Orleans, dozens have come in contact with it.

WWL-TV reports 28 New Orleans EMS employees are in isolation with symptoms and at least 94 have come in contact with the virus.

The non-symptomatic EMS workers are allowed to stay on the job as long as they wear masks and are monitored regularly for fever.

Because of the growing need for medical personnel, the CDC has different guidelines for EMS workers than most other citizens.

No one at New Orleans EMS has tested positive for the coronavirus, but some tests are still pending. Several police officers and firefighters have tested positive for COVID-19.
