At a press conference on Thursday, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says a full analysis of all proposals will be done before coming to the people with a roadmap to overhaul the storm water system in the city.
"So we're going to take the time necessary to do the analysis to come back to the public and have a plan in place to move forward getting additional resources that will improve our infrastructure," Cantrell said. "And that also includes a storm water fee."
The word about the fee comes as more than 20-thousand tons of junk is estimated to still be stuck in the city canals.
"People are really trying to find a single bad-actor as it relate to our drainage system. But there's no one single to blame," Cantrell said.
Cantrell is considering using new hotel tax money and re-allocate tax money and sell a half billion dollars in bonds to fund infrastructure repair and renovations.
