The state of Louisiana goes into the White House's "phase one" of emerging from coronavirus lockdowns Friday. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards today said more details will be coming soon.

"As we broaden the category of businesses that can begin to reopen and receive patrons again, there are obviously a lot of details to be worked out," said Edwards. "We're working through that now and sort of figuring some of this out as we go."

The governor said business owners can find answers to frequently asked questions online at opensafely.la.gov.

"The bottom line is that we want the best guidance possible," said the governor. "All the guidance will be finalized before I sign the order tomorrow (Thursday)...to officially lift the stay-at-home order and move us into phase one."

The governor also mentioned at today's news conference that some areas of the state have shown great success in slowing the spread of the coronavirus to a crawl.

"We actually have some regions in Louisiana that are currently trending below a 1.0," he said. "What that means is, as we gather here today, there are sections of our state where the virus is on the way to -- I don't know what the right word is: Eradication? Disappearing. Because any R0 of less than one means that the transmission is declining, not growing."
