At the Endymion Extravaganza at the Convention Center, Endymion announced that city officials canceled the parade after float 13 following the death of a man run over and killed by the 14th float.

"The Krewe of Endymion supports the city's decision," a spokesman told the crowd. "The first 13 floats, along with a number of bands will parade through the Convention Center."

The krewe asked the thousands of ball goers in their formal attire to "please keep the family of the person involved in the tragic accident tonight in your prayers."

The Endymion Extravaganza then partied on with the abbreviated parade inside the Convention Center and the entertainers.

"Performances of Train, Tim McGraw and Styx will go on as planned," the spokesman announced.

There was a round of cheers and applause that the party would continue. Train played first, then Tim McGraw took the stage as revelers celebrated Endymion into the very early morning hours... with Styx performing after 2am.

The krewe sent buses to get more than 1,000 riders who did not get to parade to the Extravaganza.

The ball this year was in the Convention Center because of renovations inside the Superdome.
