A couple-thousand CLECO customers are still without power as the utility repairs damage from Tropical Storm Olga over the weekend. Jennifer Cahill with CLECO says uprooted trees and downed branches not only took out power lines, it made it hard for trucks to get around.
"We've also seen a lot of debris that is proving challenging to our restoration efforts," Cahill told WWL's Tommy Tucker this morning. "We have to clear all that before we can start the restoration process."
Entergy has about 7,000 customers without power, mostly in Jefferson and Tangipahoa parishes. Entergy's Lee Sabatini says their crews also encountered more damage than they anticipated.
"The damage was extensive. Extensive," "It wasn't a tree branch on a wire, this was and entire tree being uprooted and taking down spans of wires."
Both power companies hope to get everyone back on by the end of today.
