The end of July and start of August is historically the time that we record the highest temperatures in Southeast Louisiana.
"This is the hottest time of the year here for us for the next two weeks," according to WWL TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum. "92 is our average high."
He says, however, we look to be just a bit below average this week.
Today's high is forecast to be around 91, feeling like 95 to 100.
"Tuesday's high temperatures will only be in the upper 80s," Nussbaum forecasts. "We will have scattered showers and storms with some heavy rain."
He says a trough of low pressure will sit over the eastern U.S. starting on Tuesday and lasting through the end of the week. This will help to increase our chance for rain, and keep the temps down from their normal highs.
"The upper-level low will not move much to the east on Thursday and Friday, so we will still have a chance for showers and storms each day."
