With two potential hurricanes forecast to make landfall in the same area within days of each other, several low-lying areas of southeastern Louisiana are being asked to voluntarily evacuate before the first storm arrives Monday, with the second storm forcast for Wednesday.
New Orleans Voluntary:
- Venetian Isles
- Lake Catherine
- Irish Bayou
Jefferson Parish Voluntary:
- Jean Lafitte
- Lower Lafitte
- Crown Point
- Barataria
Jefferson Parish Mandatory:
- Grand Isle
Jefferson Parish and Grand Isle are asking residents who evacuate to bring their boats, RVs, and campers with them.
Plaquemines Parish has ordered mandatory evacuations starting at noon Sunday for:
- All areas east of the Mississippi River
- Westbank from the Phillips refinery to Venice
Lafourche Parish has ordered mandatory evacuations at noon Sunday for:
- Residents and businesses south of the Leon Theriot Flood Gate
- Port Fourchon
Lafourche Parish is setting up a shelter at the Raceland Recreation Center. It opens Sunday, August 23 at noon.
