Devonta would have turned 10 years old on July 31.
"He’s my baby," Donald Bryant, Devonta's father, told WWL-TV. “I walked outside, he was just lying there. I picked him up and I laid him on the sofa. He was just not responding.”
“They killed a child full of life, catch them, catch them, catch them,” saind Devonta's grandmother.
Police say a 15 or 16-year-old girl was also shot in the stomach and a 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg.
“Three victims. All kids. All babies,” said New Orleans Police Department Superintendant, Shaun Ferguson. "This is unnecessary, this is unfortunate, and most importantly this is disheartening for us as a community to accept.”
