There's still plenty to do yet this afternoon and evening in the metro area.

The St. Mary Magdalen Seafood Festival in Metairie has been a favorite for 50 years now. Spokeswoman Barbara Croy says it's the real deal.

"It's down-home cookin' from Metairie from a lot of folks were raised on the bayou."

The three-day church and school festival also features live music, rides, games and lots more.

Make plans to come early and stay late.

The Tangipahoa Parish Fair runs through Sunday in Amite. President Regina Wedig says it's been around for some time now.

"It was started in 1888 which makes us the oldest fair in the state. We're celebrating 131 years. It's a free fair, there's no entry fee. The kettle corn is poppin', so everything's ready to go."

The Fair is a perfect place for family and friends to come together for a day full of fun and memories. Entertainment includes live music, a pie eating contest, cook-off, 4H exhibits, livestock show, Pioneer Town, Indian/Native American Village, and a womanless pageant.
