Hollywood South seems to be bouncing back from the COVID-19 pandemic. Two projects are filming in New Orleans right now. One is an Amazon Video production the other is a television series.
“They started rolling about two weeks ago,” President of the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association, Trey Burvant, told WWL First News. “And so far with consultations with producers and everything, things seem to be going fairly well.”
Burvant says daily COVID testing of actors and film crew has been key.
“While it is not inexpensive, it is the only way we can keep track of and catching any positive result, and then quarantining it and then move on,” Burvant said.
He says coronavirus testing is now the new normal for doing business in Hollywood South.
“As things settle out and more economical testing becomes more available, it will help ameliorate some of those costs. But right now it is the only choice, because we don’t want to be accused of not doing everything possible to keep both the crews safe and the public safe while we are making a movie or television series,” said Burvant.
