John Galman, who was dismissed from the New Orleans Police Department after being charged in the beating of an Hispanic man outside a Mid-City bar last year, pleaded guilty in municipal court today to one count of battery.
Galman (left) and another officer, Spencer Sutton, were arrested and charged with simple battery in July after the incident, and termination proceedings began against both rookie police officers.
Sutton, who was also fired from NOPD, is fighting the charges and at this time intends to go to trial. Sutton's attorney told WWL-TV that the video evidence shows his client was trying to defuse the situation. The trial is set to begin next month.
