The first weekend of the 2019 Jazz Fest closed out with the expected big names...Van Morrison, Al Green, Johnny Rivers, Bonnie Raitt, and the O'Jays.

Van Morrison closed the main stage Sunday while J. Balvin closed the Gentilly Stage, and Al Green closed the Congo Square Stage.

But, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival truly lived up to its name with the closing act in the WWOZ Jazz Tent.

One of the city's most storied musical families came together. Wynton, Brandford, Delfeayo and Jason Marsalis performed in a tribute to their father, Ellis.

It was a special performance by the entire Marsalis family.

Ellis Marsalis, a longtime jazz musician and educator, has taught a virtual who's-who of New Orleans musicians.

There was other great local talent to enjoy, as well, Sunday.

Frequent jazz fest performers Irma Thomas and Bonnie Raitt teamed up with Davell Crawford, Jon Cleary, and Al ``Lil Fats'' Jackson for a tribute to Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew.

Deacon John and Luther Kent performed Sunday, as well.  Louis Prima, Jr., John Boutté, Meschiya Lake, and Wendell Brunious performed a Tribute to Louis Prima.
