What began on Downman Street and Pines Boulevard just after midnight has mushroomed into no less than four more shootings pushing into Saturday.
In what has been determined an unrelated incident another man was shot on Downman off Hayne Boulevard later in the early morning hours.
That man made his way to a hospital on his own.
Still a third shooting took place on Hayne Boulevard, one block off of Downman sometime later.
Although the man was able to make his own way to a hospital, the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate reports he did not survive.
In Central City, at Franklin and North Claiborne, gunfire erupted and a man was downed just before daybreak.
That victim, too, made his own way to a hospital for treatment.
Finally, a man was shot near Earhart and South Tonti Saturday morning around 10am.
Just like the others the victim got to a hospital on his own.
NOPD Investigators kept Earhart closed between Broad Street and Galvez to search for clues or witnesses into midmorning.
Anyone with information about any of the shooting incidents is asked to contact Crimestoppers.
