Louisiana travelers can once again, visit Florida without having to self-quarantine for 14-days.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, issued Executive Order 20-139 which brings the state into Phase 2 of their recovery plan which deactivates the COVID-19 checkpoint on I-10 at the Florida/Alabama state line according to Florida Department of Transportation spokesperson Beth Frady.
“Motorists are encouraged to drive cautiously and safely while crews are working to deactivate the checkpoint,” said Frady in a FDOT media release.

The checkpoint deactivation means Louisiana travelers can now travel to Florida via I-10 without having to fill out a ‘Traveler Card’ with personal contact information and where they are staying in Florida, nor do they have to self-quarantine at that destination for a maximum of 14-days.
However, Phase 2 still keeps the COVID-19 checkpoint on I-95 at the Georgia/Florida state line active. Travelers from the New York tri-state area will still be screened as they enter the state.
The deactivation of the I-10 COVID-19 checkpoint comes as Cristobal threatens Louisiana and the gulf coast where I-10 is a major hurricane evacuation route for several gulf states.
