Fog and record heat in advance of strong cold front

After another foggy start to the day, we will climb to record highs today.

"Today will be another day with record high temperatures!" WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum said. "Once the fog dissipates, we will see some sunshine and that will allow us to get into the lower 80s."

The record today is 80° set in 2018.

"Tonight a strong cold front will move through with scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder," Nussbaum said.  "It will turn MUCH COLDER with lows in the 40s."

We won't see much of a warm up during the day tomorrow.

"Friday will be a much colder day.  High temperatures will only rebound into the lower 50s."

It gets even colder for Saturday morning.

"Lows in the mid 30s north and lower 40s south," according to Nussbaum.
