Former LSU cornerback Greedy Williams was selected with the 48th overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in the second round of the NFL Draft.

Williams ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at this year's NFL combine, tied for second best at the cornerback position.  He also has the size (6'2") that is now coveted by NFL teams looking for shutdown cover corners on the outside.  Some thought Williams may have been a first-round selection, but questions about his physicality and ability to be a day-one starter contributed to his slide.

WWL draft analyst Mike Detillier has been high on Williams' NFL potential for months, but thinks Williams should have stayed in school for another year.

"He got some bad advice in the offseason," Detillier said.  "It’s almost a Derrius Guice scenario all over again.  You’ve got to win the offseason. Greedy didn’t do it.  What you did on the field is one thing.  Again, these coaches aren’t watching you from September through December."

Former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert echoed Detillier's thoughts, but thinks Williams landed in a good spot.

"He got humble," Hebert said.  But the Cajun Cannon added, "I think Greedy Williams is going to have a lot of success with the Browns.  I think that’s a good situation for him."

Williams played two seasons at LSU, totaling 8 interceptions and 71 tackles.
