The coalition group Forward New Orleans issued its 2020 First Progress Report on City Government and elected officials who took office in 2018.

Forward New Orleans bills itself as a diverse coalition of civic, community and neighborhood organizations united in their vision of excellence in city government.

“Forward New Orleans works to set high expectations on the issues that matter most in our city by demanding performance and accountability from the leaders we elect,” said Andreanecia M. Morris, president and chair of the Greater New Orleans Housing Alliance, an FNO member in a press release.

Gregory Rusovich, past chair of the Business Council of New Orleans and the River Region, an FNO member, said in a press release, “Public safety is a chief concern for New Orleans residents, and NOPD is working diligently under challenging conditions to best serve the community. FNO takes note of NOPD’s tremendous strides in technology advancements and Consent Decree compliance. Still, efforts to grow the NOPD through increased recruitment and retention are falling short.”

The Report uses a green-yellow-red system to find where progress in matters such as public safety, infrastructure, economic opportunity, city services, finances and civil service are graded.

A deep dive into these issues is made where FNO can react to progress, or lack thereof, and make suggestions and offer solutions.
