Freezing weather across much of Southeast Louisiana

Freeze

We started out Tuesday with a freeze warning on the Northshore in the River Parishes.

"BRRR! It is a very cold and clear morning with a light freeze for areas north and west of New Orleans," WWL TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum said.

Temperatures on the Northshore dipped into the upper 20s, with the Southshore in the 30s.

Gusty winds south of the lake make it feel below freezing.  Wind chills on the Northshore started the day in the 20s.

"An area of high pressure will build over us today. It will be sunny, but chilly with high temperatures in the upper 40s."

Nussbaum tomorrow starts with more 20s north of the lake and 30s on the Southshore.

"We will be cloudy and chilly with highs in the mid 50s Wednesday."

Rain returns for Thursday.

"An area of low pressure will move off the Texas Coast on Thursday and it will track right across the Louisiana Coast. This will spread scattered showers across the region from the morning and into Thursday night. Some downpours will be possible. We will warm up into the mid 60s. This system will be east of us by Friday morning with lows in the 40s north and 50s south. Friday will become partly cloudy and pleasant with highs in the lower 60s."

Weekend Outlook: An area of high pressure will build back over us all weekend. This will make it sunny and comfortable with high temperatures in the lower 60s - right where it should be for late-January.
