French Quarter Fest boasts record crowd

French Quarter Festivals, Inc. says the 36th annual French Quarter Fest drew a record 825,000 attendees.

The fest credits new stages, like the Pan-American Life Stage on the Moonwalk, and expansion of the Chevron Evening Concert Series, for the increased attendance.

“From the moment our kickoff parade rolled from Bourbon Street to Sunday night’s Dancing at Dusk, French Quarter Festival 2019 was pure magic,” said Emily Madero, President & CEO of FQFI. “This year, we shook things up with the new stage, more headliners, recycling, and a record number of music debuts. We are grateful for the tremendous number of fans who embraced the additions and contributed to the success of the weekend.”

The festival showcased 1,700 Louisiana musicians from April 11 through April 14. The fest managed to avoid foul weather, giving the crowds plenty of opportunity to enjoy not just the music, but also local art and cuisine.

According to FQFI:Attendance numbers are calculated based on actual counts (that are adjusted down by percentage to account for repeat entrances and exits). F.E.S.S. Inc. counts at entry and exit points of major stages. This number does not include attendance at the festival's Royal, Bourbon, Decatur, House of Blues, Preservation Hall, Pan-American Life Insurance Group, and French Market stages.
