A cold front has blown across Louisiana.

"Our first true cold front has moved through and get ready for some cold temperatures in New Orleans!" WWL TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum said. "We will have scattered showers and a few thunderstorms today until 1:00pm."

He says we saw 80s overnight fall to 70s early this morning, then through the 60s.

"We will be falling to the mid 50s this afternoon. It will be windy with winds of 20-25 mph today, and this will put an extra chill into the air."

Nussbaum says at least it will be dry when trick-or-treaters hit the streets.

"Kids may want some warmer clothes under their costumes. It will be dry and breezy with temperatures falling from the 50s into the 40s between 6:00 and 8:00pm."

He says it will be clear and cold over night.

"Lows north of the lake will fall to the mid 30s and south of the lake in the mid 40s."

We don't even see 60s at any time on Friday.

"It will be gorgeous day with plenty of sun, but it will be chilly. High temperatures will only get into the upper 50s," Nussbaum forecasts. "More cold air is expected Friday Night. Lows north will be in the mid 30s with some patchy frost, so protect plants and pets. South will be in the mid 40s for Saturday morning."

  • Weekend: More beautiful and cool weather is expected all weekend. A dry cold front will move through on Saturday and this will just give us a reinforcing blast of cooler temperatures. Highs will stay in the lower 60s. Sunday will stay cool with highs struggling to get to 60°.  Enjoy this cool weather!
  • Tropics: Subtropical Storm Rebekah has formed in the NE Atlantic. It will remain a subtropical storm today and then it will be post-tropical tomorrow as it loses its tropical characteristics.
