A batch of frozen chicken wings imported from Brazil tests positive for coronavitus in China.
According to CNN, authorities in Shenzhen made the discovery last week. The virus was found on the surface of a batch of chicken wings during a coronavirus screening of imported food to China.
As CNN reports, health authorities in Shenzhen, China say they’ve immediately traced and tested people who may have come in contacted with the supposedly tainted chicken wings.
"It remains unclear at what stage the possible contamination of the packaging occurred, and whether it occurred during the export transport process,” The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein said in a statement. “ABPA reiterates that there is no scientific evidence that meat can transmit the virus, as has been stressed by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA).”
Chinese state media reports the coronavirus was detected on tested samples of frozen seafood in seven incidents since July.
