Funeral today for fallen Mandeville Police captain

The funeral for Captain Vincent Liberto of the Mandeville Police Department is today at noon. Visitation begins at the Castine Center at 9:00 a.m.

Law officers from around the country are expected to attend the service.

After the funeral, the procession will leave the Castine Center and head to the St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden cemetery. Due to the size of the procession, drivers in the area at that time could encounter delays up to an hour.

Law officers from coast to coast will be in attendance, and the Marine Corps, too.

"It's going to be a full law enforcement and military funeral with full honors, and deservedly so," said Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker.

Chief Gerald Sticker says Captain Liberto was as good a man as one could ask.

"Whether it was cheerleading or football, he was there for every one of his kids," the chief said. "He will be sorely missed by them as well as myself and my entire department."

Mandeville Police release the following route for the procession:

From Pelican Park, West on U.S. Hwy 190 passing in front of MPD HQ,

Turning North on Asbury Dr., proceeding North to U.S. Hwy 190 East Service Rd,

Turning North and proceeding on Service Rd to Judge Tanner Dr.,
