
Someone has vandalized a statue of George Washington near the New Orleans Public Library on Loyola Avenue.
Red paint was painted across the mouth and chest of the statue and the letters “BLM” for Black Lives Matter was painted on it’s base.
The statue of America's first president is the latest historic statue vandalized under the Black Lives Matter movement.
A statue of John McDonogh in front of Gallier Hall was ripped from its base Last Friday. Before that, philanthropist Sophie B. Wright on Magazine Street was painted with “BLM”, and over on Jefferson Davis Parkway, the bust of confederate soldier Charles Didier Dreux was toppled.
