Security officers guarding the Superdome report they got into a gunfight with two men.
New Orleans Police says the gunplay started around 3am when officers encountered two men on West Stadium Drive trying to break into an unauthorized area.
At least one of the men opened fire on the officers with bullets hitting the windshield of their cruiser.
The guards returned fire and pursued the men but they were able to get away.
NOPD is in close communication with security officials at the Dome, Louisiana State Police, FBI and Secret Service.
Law enforcement agencies says there is no indication at present that the incident was connected to terrorist activity.
They are asking for the public's help in finding the two assailents.
