More than three inches of rain fell in about an hour.

That's more than the pumps can handle.

How hard did in rain in New Orleans this morning? On average: the 5-min rainfall rate peaked around 0.5 inches and the 1-hour rainfall rate peaked at just under 3 inches. That is very heavy rainfall rates!!! #turnarounddontdrown #lawx

There are no initial reports of water in homes of businesses. Some cars were flooded.

The city of New Orleans said drivers could put their cars in the neutral ground to get them above flood waters.
