New Orleans Public Schools Superintendent Henderson Lewis, Jr. is adamant: "We clearly know what has happened at John F. Kennedy High School last year and I'm working very hard to prevent that from happening at any school."

Lewis is overseeing the yearly overview of all high school student's records to ensure they are on their educational path and progressing toward their ultimate goal of earning a diploma.

The Superintendent also aware of comments made by New Beginning School Foundation CEO Kevin George's comments to the local news webpage that transcripts from other schools had to be 'cleaned up' and, quoting the comment in The Lens, “It’s not like John F. Kennedy is the only school out there that had some transcript issues.”

"Outside of this audit that's happening, I have a team that's working on every single record at JFK," Lewis says.  "Once again, this is where this incident happened and we want to make sure that the students there are not in the same predicament as the class of 2019."

Lewis says the incident at JFK happened because of the actions of adults.  "Our students who attended JFK who were part of the class of 2019, they trusted their adults to work on their behalf.  To make sure they were given the right courses, to make sure they met all state requirements--that was on adults and those adults, in my mind, knew what they were doing."
