Too anxious for fireworks to wait for the 4th?
A couple of events on the Northshore are holding early celebrations this weekend.
Mandeville's celebration on Saturday is the earliest event of the weekend, and it's definitely a family event...
"It starts off, actually, in the morning. People can picnic all day on the lakefront," says Mayor Donald Villere. The lake front will be available for picnicking, starting at 10 a.m.
"We'll have a kids' tent out there where they'll have craft activities and some face painting."
You can bring your own food or shop the food court, which opens at 5 o'clock.
Entertainment starts at 6 o'clock, with music by 'Four Unplugged,' voted the "Northshore's Best Band." "Saturday evening, we're going to do our Independence Day celebration. We call it 'Light Up the Lake." Mayor Villere says the fireworks will start at dusk
