Irish eyes should be smiling, despite some Saturday showers

Not a bad St. Patrick's Day weekend, overall.

The bulk of the rain has moved out of the metro area. We'll keep a 40 percent chance for a few, isolated showers in the forecast Saturday. Most of rain, however, should remain focused along the coast or offshore. This afternoon should be an improvement over a somewhat dreary morning. It'll be a cloudy and chilly Saturday, though, with highs only reaching the upper 50s...well below our average of 72 for this date.

WWL-TV meteorologist Chris Franklin says the luck of the Irish should bring more sunshine on Sunday.

"We should begin to see some sun at times tomorrow for St. Patrick's Day with highs a tad warmer, around 62...but still 10 degrees below the norm," says Franklin.

"None of the weekend parades and parties should be negatively affected by the weather."

"Gorgeous weather for next week. We may still have some lingering high clouds on Monday, but an upper trough will finally help usher in more sunshine through the week. High temps slowly return to normal by the end of the week, with low humidity through next weekend."
