Businesses are shut down, stores are running out of basic supplies, some shelves in grocery stores are bare as Louisiana and the rest of the country, stay at home in an effort to self-isolate and slow the spread of COVID-19.
But Democratic Strategist and LSU Professor James Carville says more extreme measures need to be taken to stop COVID-19 from spreading, “What is going to have to happen is they are going to have to literally shut this country down for three weeks.”
Carville continues, “I mean like call out the Guard, like, shut it down totally. The only way you can beat this thing until you can get a vaccine is to quarantine 330 million people.”
Last week, Governor John Bel Edwards ordered businesses to close and people to stay at home. If people had to go out he and state health officials encouraged people to practice social distancing. Carville says that is not enough if the country wants to completely stop the virus from spreading, “The only thing we can do to interrupt that is to have a draconian nationwide total shut down. If we don’t do that it is not going to work.”
