Permanent job cuts have hit the work force at the Sheraton Hotel and Dave and Buster's restaurant.

The Times-Picyune/New Orleans Advocate reports Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications were sent to the state.

At the Sheraton, where 431 of its 449 employees are currently furloughed, 170 jobs would be cut.

Dave and Buster's reported 97 of its positions would be eliminated.

For hotels upwards of 2300 employees across 13 properties are not returning to work this year.

At Sheraton, the layoffs hit the front desk, restaurant, accountants, engineers and the management staff.

General Manager Jim Cook told the paper they are expecting "historically low hotel occupancy and mounting event cancellations" will continue into 2021.

"Since the coronavirus/CoVID-19 crisis began, the hospitality industry has face many unprecedented challenges that could not have been forseen," Cook told the paper.  "the crisis' impact on the industry has been historic, swift and devastating."

At Dave and Buster's they say their property is not being shuttered permanently, and those jobs will come back, once the conditions improve and conditions permit.

The layoffs go into effect November 1.
