It’s been revealed Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is undergoing chemotherapy for a recurrence of cancer.

Ginsberg has been undergoing treatment since May.

In a statement issued today and obtained by CBS NEWS the octogenarian says “I have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam.  I remain fully able to do that.”

Ginsberg recently checked into a hospital and was discharged earlier this week.

According to staff her hospitalization was for the removal of gall stones and to treat an infection.

It had nothing related to the cancer diagnosis.

At 87, Ginsberg has had a number of health concerns including bouts of colorectal, pancreatic and lung cancers.

In her statement, Ginsberg says she restarted chemotherapy treatments after cancerous lesions were found on her liver.

She says the treatment is yielding positive results.

The Justice is undergoing treatments two times a week while maintaining a full schedule.

“I wish her the best,” President Trump said.
