Celebrity Kim Kardashian wants New Orleans rapper “C-Murder” released from prison.

Corey “C-Murder” Miller is serving a life sentence for a conviction in the 2002 fatal shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas at the former Platinium Club in Harvey. According to The Times Picayune | New Orleans Advocate, Miller had his first conviction overturned in 2003, but a Jefferson Parish jury found him guilty of second-degree murder in a retrial in 2009. A key witness in Miller's 2009 trial later said he was pressured by detectives to testify against Miller.

Kardashian tweeted her support for releasing Miller. She notes Miller was convicted with a non-unanimous 10-2 verdict, which today is illegal after a U.S. Supreme Court outlawed split jury verdicts.

The jury convicted Corey 10-2 and he was sentenced him to life in prison. If his trial was today, the jury would have had to be unanimous for him to be convicted.

In her tweet Kardashian announces she is teaming up with attorneys Jessica Kackson, Erin Haney and R&B singer Monica in an effort to free Miller.

Miller is the brother of New Orleans rap mogul Percy “Master-P” Miller.
