A Larose man facing sex crimes charges involving juveniles now has more charges filed against him. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says two more people came forward to accuse 30-year-old Benjamin Holbert.
"Juvenile detectives began investigating Holbert after it was reported he had inappropriately touched a juvenile under the age of 12," Sheriff Craig Webre's office announced Wednesday. "Detectives obtained a warrant, and he was arrested on April 8, 2019."
Holbert posted his $10,000 bail and was released the following day, but the sheriff's office says news of Holbert's arrest brought forward the new accusers.
"Detectives learned similar incidents had occurred approximately two years prior, and both victims were under the age of 12 at the time of the incidents," said officials. "Detectives obtained warrants for two additional counts of Sexual Battery (Forcible Fondling) and one count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile.
The sheriff's office says Holbert was booked again Monday, July 29. He was released from jail later that day after posting $60,000 bail.
