Lawmakers in Washington D.C. scramble to extend the extra $600 people laid off because of COVID-19, have been receiving in their unemployment benefits.
According to Marketwatch.com, lawmakers are reviewing three proposals to help unemployed Americans.
One proposal called the HEROS Act, which passed the House, last month, would extend that $600 through to January 2021.
The Worker Relief and Security Act is another proposal, which also extends the unemployment benefits, but the amount of money a person would recive would vary from state to state. It would also continue the payments as long as your state is in a declared state of emergency due to COVID-19.
The third proposal is a back-to-work bonus, which would give Americans $450 a week if they returned to work.
Lawmakers have to make a decision soon as the current extended unemployment benefits will expire on July 31.
