The Eastbank Little League team from River Ridge flew home today. They were greeted by a second line band at the Airport in Kenner and lots of friends and family.
The 13 boys paraded through the concourse as people pulled out their phones, shot video and took pictures.
People slapped the kids high fives and applauded them.
Local leaders held a news conference with the team and announced the upcoming parade planned for Saturday.
Team Louisiana easily handled Curacao 8 to 0 to win the 2019 title and become the first team to ever lose the opening game, and go on to win it all.
"We're from New Orleans. We're from the state of Louisiana, so these kids are bred to be resilient," Head Coach Scott Frazier said.
No Louisiana team has ever won the Little League World Series before either.
Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser said, "We are so incredibly proud, all of Louisiana."
Then, they went to the Jefferson Performing Arts Center where a huge crowd of fans cheered for them and gave them a hero's welcome.
Friends, neighbors, classmates, parents, relatives and others held up signs and oversized cutouts of their heads.
