LSU.com columnist Jeff Palermo says fans have good reason to be excited.
''I think last night's win shows that this team is for real, that they are a team that the rest of college basketball has to take seriously,'' said Palermo.
Palermo says LSU has a real shot of making moves in March Madness, but there's even talk about a conference championship.
''They control their own destiny, because even though Tennessee is in first and has yet to lose a game in conference play, LSU will play Tennessee a week from Saturday on their home floor," said Palermo, "and Tennessee's next game is against Kentucky."
