John Walton has died.
"It is with great shock and sadness that I inform the Walton & Johnson audience of the untimely and sudden passing of John Walton," Cohost Steve Johnson posted to Facebook.
He died just before midnight last night.
"His medical issues were too numerous to overcome. He had been receiving treatment over the last month but continued to suffer," Johnson said of his colleague since 1983. "I will always cherish John as not only a partner but a dear friend."
"He made the decision to return home yesterday and spend his last hours with his family."
The pair was on WWL Radio sister station B97 in the 80's and 90's and then on Bayou 95.7 for about a decade until a few years ago. The pair had been on radio stations across the region for more than 30 years. Affiliates carried a previously recorded program today.
