The Louisiana Craft Brewers Guild says it would like to see more local beers for sale in Death Valley, now that Tiger Stadium can sell beer and wine during LSU football games.

Currently, the only local offering is Abita Strawberry Lager, available at a small portion of sales kiosks.

Guild executive director Cary Koch says of the seven beers offered, two come from a neighboring state.

"Two labels from Karbach, which is a craft brewery out of Texas," said Koch, noting, "With the last weekend of Texas beatdown, we’re getting beat in the stadium with Texas beers."

Koch says they got the numbers to prove that the beers they would have in the stadium would do even better for sales, profit margins, and revenue.

"Why not put something that not only helps locals but also brings in more money?" Koch questioned. "It makes too much sense to not continue to look at those lists of beers that are for sale."

LSU senior associate athletic director Robert Munson says the beverages that are available in the stadium were selected for LSU athleticsby its vendor, Aramark, and also by fan input, adding expansion could come sooner rather than later.

Koch is hopeful LSU will make what he says is the right decision.

"It’s their brand that is associating with what they are selling and they have the power to change that and I hope they choose to do so," said Koch.
