Louisiana Family Forum is on the hunt for the longest married couples throughout the state. For the last three years, a couple from Benton have locked in the title for being married the longest. But that couple passed away in 2018, and another couple will be taking the distinction. General counsel at LFF Kristie Cross said it’s an effort to encourage future generations when it comes to marriage.
“Marriage can last a lifetime and we want to honor this commitment and honor these couples for sticking it out through thick and thin,” said Cross.
Cross says the organization will be on the lookout through early February in an effort to make an official recognition on Valentine’s Day.
Cross said upon finding the top couple, LFF will plan a celebration around the duo.
“We get their family members there and grab some muffins and cupcakes and a cake and some sandwiches and whatever they want to get and we go to them,” said Cross.
