LSU fans have been waiting a long time to see their team play in the SEC Championship game. That chance comes tomorrow as the second-ranked Tigers take on fourth-ranked Georgia.
“This is what we’ve been working for, SEC Championship is here and we are playing a really good team, obviously best defense in the country in my opinion, it’s a tall task for us, but this is what we work for so we’ll be ready for it,” said LSU QB Joe Burrow.
LSU is a touchdown favorite.
The Bulldogs have the second-best scoring defense in the nation, and Burrow says it’s largely due to the work of Richard LeCounte III and JR Reed.
“They have two best tandem safeties in the country, I don’t think there’s a group that’s better than those guys, you can tell how well-coached they are, they are very sound in their scheme and I think they really understand their scheme, which makes them so dominant,” Burrow said.
LSU beat at that time 5th ranked Georgia 36-16 in Tiger Stadium last year. Burrow was only 15-of-30 for 200 yards and no touchdowns in that game, but this year is a whole other animal.
“They have three or four guys back on that defense and the rest are new starters who are playing really, really well, we are a new offense, same guys, but new offense and new scheme,” Burrow added.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Saturday.
