Over a million dollars worth of drugs were seized during a bust in Shreveport thanks to K-9 cop named Mingo who sniffed out the narcotic filled shipping container.

Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond says they seized 24 pounds of THC wax, 2028 grams of THC gummies, 2,910 doses of THC oil, 1,909 grams of THC vaping cartridges, 56 ounces of Codeine syrup, 50 pounds of high-grade marijuana, and 2,500 grams of pre-rolled marijuana blunts from a container found in a vehicle at a home on the 100 block of Kayla Street.

Raymond says Shreveport is right on the I-20, and Raymond says it’s likely the narcotics came into Louisiana via the interstate highway.

“This is narcotics that came from out of state to be distributed to the City of Shreveport and throughout northwest Louisiana, so this is something that would have affected our citizens,” Raymond said.

Most of the bust was THC related, and while drug offenses aren’t counted as violent crime, Raymond says they often lead to violence.

“A lot of our violent crime stems from disagreements stemming from narcotics and drug trafficking, so getting this large a seizure off the streets of Shreveport makes all of us safer,” added Raymond.

Arrests are expected to follow soon.
