Tonight the SEC Network airs a documentary covering LSU’s 2019 championship season. Entitled “One for the Ages,” the 60-minute tribute showcases footage captured from summer training camp through the National Championship victory for other programs.
“So as we look back when the season was over we just said, ‘Wow! We’ve got all of these elements to document the season from beginning to end, better than we’ve ever really done before, based on how many points there were, how prolific their offense was and we should really put together a documentary on the course of the season,'” said documentary producer Jim Jorden.
In all, LSU defeated seven teams ranked in the Top 10 in 2019. While many may have been taken by surprise by the success of the season, Jorden says those on the team showed their confidence in their ability to be a championship squad early and the program showcases why.
“It really, like any documentary, dives off into the reason behind things. So when they talk about in spring football how they are putting in this new offense, how they were not going under center for the first time in a long time and where this offense came from. You’ll see kind of the behind the scenes story of how it evolved from the Saints passing game and how they implemented it throughout the course of the year,” said Jorden.
There will be no shortage of Heisman Trophy-winning QB Joe Burrow. Jorden says having so many highlights from the Tigers made it tricky to select the ones to make the final cut.
“It’s hard-throwing sixty touchdown passes. One of the more difficult things was to choose which touchdowns we showed, which scoring strikes and why. So we always had a reason as to which shots we used, but there is plenty of Joe Burrow and his receivers in this show,” said Jorden.
The program airs tonight at 6:30 Central on the SEC Network.
