Louisiana seeing continued plateau of coronavirus cases, state reports recoveries for 1st time

For the first time, Louisiana is reporting how many people are "presumed recovered" from coronavirus.

Health department officials say 14,927 in the state are in that category of  presumed recovered.*


The number of COVID-19 cases in Louisiana today increased by 401 to a total of 26,140.

The coronavirus deaths increased by 61 to a statewide total of 1,601.

Meanwhile hospitalizations fell by 30.

However, there are a few more patients on ventilators.

The state now reports 286 people intubated.  That is up by 12.

There have now been ‭142,056‬ tests completed for coronavirus in Louisiana.

*A person is presumed recovered if: 

  • 1) it has been more than 14 days, since he/she tested positive and he/she is not currently in the hospital or deceased (when hospital status is known), or 
  • 2) it has been more than 21 days, since he/she tested positive and he/she is not deceased (when hospital status is unknown).
