After a brief respite from the winter chill, we're in for another cold snap in the metro area.
Highs in the low to mid 60s Sunday and Monday will fall to the 40s Tuesday and bring a possibility of snow to the area.
A Hard Freeze is expected Wednesday morning on the Northshore and even areas away from the metro area on the Southshore.
"Temperatures will likely drop into the mid to upper 20s for several hours," says WWL-TV meteorologist Chris Franklin. "Along with the usual cold weather precautions...people, pets, and plants...pipes will also need to be protected if you're outside of the city and especially on the Northshore, and even the River Parishes," say Franklin.
Temperatures will gradually increase after that and another hard freeze is not expected after that.
As for that wintry weather...Franklin says the best chance for snow or a rain/snow mix in our area would be early Tuesday morning, just before and after sunrise and primarily for areas north of I-12 on the Northshore and north of I-10 in southern Mississippi.
Little to no accumulation is anticipated as ground temperatures will be too warm.
"Normally this would be more of a novelty," says Franklin. "But we know how we react to such things in southeast Louisiana...so be aware for traffic issues on Tuesday morning. At the moment, the city probably would not see much, if any, wintry weather."________________________________________________________________
