The town of Church Point, Louisiana  has the unique designation as being home to the state’s first cloned cow.

The cow resides at the Circle T Cattle Company.

Several years ago, owner Bob Thibodeaux purchased a cow that won awards all over the world. The cow became so valuable, Thibodeaux decided to duplicate her.

“If she dies we are going to have all of this money, but we are not going to have her, so we started to look into the clone...if something would happen to her, we would still have her,” says Thibodeaux.

The cloning took place in Iowa, and the duplicate animal was then shipped back to Louisiana. The clone, called 'Eight Over Nine', is now just over a year old and has the exact look and personality of the original.

“Little tiny kids can go up and rub them. They're like a pet dog, they love to be rubbed and played with” said Thibodeaux.

Thibodeaux says they have the ability to clone the cow again if the need arises.

“When they came to take the tissue to clone, they took some extra tissue and put in storage,” said Thibodeaux
